RIGA CATHEDRAL PIPE ORGAN: latvia musical instrument

Dome pipe organ is the 2^nd biggest pipe organ that is found in Latvia. The musical instrument is situated in the Riga cathedral. The largest mechanical pipe organ in the country is situated in Liepāja Holy Trinity Cathedral.

The first known version of the Riga cathedral pipe organ was the largest version of the musical instrument in the world, but the instrument was lost to fire in the year 1547. In the 16^th century, the cathedral church constructed a new organ that sounded for 280 years. Presently, the vocal organ is more than the century organ, the instrument is carved by german industry called E.F. Walcker& Sons in Ludwigsburg in the year 1882 to 1883 and the instrument was inaugurated on the 31^st of January 1884.  In the year 1983, the musical instrument was revived by FlentropOrgelbouw, and the instrument has retained its unique sound. at the time of the reconstruction,  the musical instrument was dismantled and assembled again second console was given to the instrument and later three stops were added to the musical instrument.

The Walcker’s version of the musical instrument has double consoles that give a scarce opportunity for two players of the musical instrument to compete. The Dom version of the musical instrument has four keyboards and one pedal board, it also has 125 registers and also6768 various sizes of metal and wood stabules, and the longest among them is about 10 meters and the smallest among them is about 8 meters. The diameters of the pipes are from 4 mm to 50 cm. The musical instrument performs 116 voices and has 124 stops, with 144 ranks, having 18 combination and general Crescendo also.
