HABBAN: Kuwait musical instrument

The habban is kind of bagpipe instrument that is used in the southern coast of the Persian Gulf. The name of the instrument is one of the many Arabic terms that are used for bagpipe instruments. The name of the musical instrument may be derived from the term Hanban, which is tye Persian name for bag. In Kuwait, the term habban is used to refer to the traditional Bedouin bagpipe musical instrument.
While the name habban is a general name, in Oman, the name of the musical instrument is more particularly a version of the Great Highland Bagpipe that has been added to the local music.
