Rachid Mimouni was born on the 20th November 1945; he died on
the 12th February 1995. He was an Algerian writer, teacher and a
human right activist.
Rachid Mimouni wrote novels to explain the Algerian society at large in a
realistic pattern. Rachid Mimouni was threatened by the Islamic militants for
his courage stance against the movement that he said to be based on archaic
ideas and not required for the present time.

Biography
Rachid Mimouni was born in Boudouaou, 30KM from Algiers in a family with
poor background. Rachid Mimouni studied science at the University of Algiers
before he became a teacher at the École supérieure du commerce, a business school that is in Algiers.
Rachid Mimouni was the president of the Kateb Yacine foundation and he
occupied the position of vice-president at the Amnesty International.
Rachid Mimouni left his country to France in the year 1993 to dodge the
civil war of the country and the assassination of the intellectuals of the
society.
Rachid Mimouni died in Paris in the year 1995 of Hepatitis.
