She started her music career at a tender age in the high school in Tizi
Ouzou. In the year 1969, she won a gold medal at a festival organized in the
county, Algeria. After completing her education as a nurse, she started working
in the hospital, though she soon decided to change to the singing profession,
in disobedience of the customs of her family and her village. In the year 1979,
she traveled to France to drop her first music album called Tsuha, the album
became the beginning of her success. She released many other albums later with
music typified by the feminist cultural and linguistic need of the Berbers.
From the year 1994, she made her mind up to live in France with her family.
