Cheb Sahraoui

Cheb Sahraoui was born on the 1^st April 1961. He is a Rai musician from Algeria. He is the first Rai music player to tour to the northern part of America and the first to incorporate electronic synthesizer into his music arrangement.

As a pianist, he learned music at the conservatory of music in Oran and he launched his music profession by singing the rai classics and beatles tunes in the night clubs of the city. His first hit called Ana Mahlali Noum was dropped in the year 1078.

In the year 1983, he got married to Fadela Zalmat, known as Chaba fadela, a musician and they started singing together. The first record they made together was called "N'sel Fik", and it became an international hit. The music was followed by further records successes and travels, including the travel to the United States in the year 1990 and in the year 1993. While they were in New York, they recorded another album called Walli with the producer, Bill Laswell who is also a multi-instrumentalist. They relocated from their country, Algeria to France in the year 1994. In the later part of the 90s, they got separated Sahraoui’s first solo album called Un Homme Libre (A Free Man) was dropped in the year 2000.
