Possibly the renowned neo-folk south African music, internationally anywhere, is the music of Amampondo and the solo composition of their leader  and initiator Dizu Plaatjies. He and his orchestra took folk Xhosa music from hills of Pondoland and the Eastern Cape and put in on the stage of the world-wide. The achievement of the genre was how the exponents mixed their music with their stage shows and dance.
