The
word trot is pronounced as teuroteu in Korean (which is sometimes called
ppongjjak), due to its different background rhythm) and it is the oldest type
of Korean pop music. This was initiated in the years before and during the
World War II which is around the early 1900s. Popular interpreters of this
genre are from South Korean singers like Song Dae Gwan and Tae Jin Ah, rock
artists such as Cho Young Pil who also performed this kind of music.

Presently,
it has enjoyed a recovery at the hands of Jang Yoon Jeong, who recorded the
well-known trot songs Jjanjjara and Oemoena. Famous child actress and film
artist Lee Jae Eun has also presently recorded a trot album.
