The Tajiks traditional music is characteristically divided into three patterns, known as Pamir (Mountain-Badakhshan Region0, Central Kuhistoni (Gissar, Kulyab Carm regions) and Sogdiana’s northern pattern; the latter is part of the same musical culture as the opposite area of Uzbekistant (Kashkadarya Region and Surkhandarya Region). There are many types of chants, both lyrical and instruments which include the following such as wedding, musical epics, ceremonial, funeral and work chants, particularly the central Tajiks heroic star known as Gurugli.
