Pedi-folk music is mainly harepa and it is based on the harp. The German autoharp came into South African during in the 19th century, introduced by Lutheran ministers proselytizing among the Pedi. Harepa has not attained music mainstream achievement in South African; however there was a little flourishing during in the 70s, which was led by Johannes Mohlala.
