Mirel Josa was born on the 1st June 1963. He is a former footballer from Albania. He is currently a coach in a team in the country. Currently, he is the head coach of KF Skënderbeu Korçë. When he was a footballer, he played for the following teams in the Greek Alpha Ethniki for Kavala F.C. and Aris Thessaloniki F.C. He was a member of the Albanian national team and he played 27 games for the country between the year 1984 to the year 1992.
Career as a Player
In his youth age, Josa showed himself to be a defensive as well as an attacking midfielder. In the 1982 UEFA European Under-18 Championship that was played in Finland, he managed to score a goal in a match that was played against Netherlands in a 3-1 loss that disqualified Netherlands, where Marco Van Basten was in the game.
In the 1984 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship, he scored a goal that made a draw for the country in a match that was palyed against West Germany in Trier. He was a determining factor in the qualification of the country in the quarter finals of the sompetition, winning and eliminating Germany, Turkey as well as Austria. After the match, Josa was given the award of the Master of Sport title.
In the national team, at the time pof the qualifiers of Mexico 1986 campaign, he scored a goal in the winning game of that match that was playued against Belgium. As a footballer with KF Tirana, he will forever remain in the mind of Albanian football for his last minute goal that was scored in a match tha t was played against FC Dinamo Bucuresti in the 1986–87 European Cup Winners' Cup that took the team to the 16 best of the competition.
