Edmond kapllani was born on the 31st July 1982 in Durres, Albania. He is a footballer from Albania and he is currently playing the role of a striker for his club, FSV Frankfurt. He is the younger brother to the retired goalkeeper, Xhevair Kapllani, who played for the city club, Teuta Durres.
Club Career
Before he made a move to Karlsruher SC, kapllani had played for many clubs. He has played football for the following teams, KS Teuta Durrës, KF Partizani Tirana and KS Besa Kavajë in the Albanian Superliga. He has spent a year with NK Orijent in Croatia, though after an unsuccessful season, he returned to the country to play.
Kapllani joined the 2.Bundesliga club, Karlsruher SC on the 1st July 2004. It took some time for his to adapt to the football pattern of the club and he began only 15 games for the club in the first season that he spent there, scoring just a goal in that season. In the 2005/06 season, he became a regular player in the first eleven of the club; he played 25 games for the club and scored 6 goals for them. The 2006/07 season was successful in the club as he was the second highest goal scorer in the 2.Bundesliga with 17 goals for the club in 30 games that he played for the season, behind the teammate, Giovanni Federico who scored 19 goals for the club in that season. The both players helped the team to get into the Bundesliga after being absent for 9 years. In the 2007/08 season, Kapllani had a difficult season as he could not adjust to the pattern of football of the first division of the country, he played 28 matches for the club bt he started only 14 of the games that he played for the country. Despite his unsteady form in that season, his club finished in the 11th position of the league table and that gave them a top-flight football for another year.
The next season seemed to be worst as Kapllani started only 6 matches for the club out of the 20 games that he played for them, this is because the coach of the club, Edmund Becker gave his position in the field of play to another striker of the team, Joshua Kennedy, even though the striker was unable to score a goal for the club until the end of the season. Kapllani’s only sense of achievemtn followed from the goal he scored in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.
On the 27th May 2009, Kapllanu made a free transfer to Augsburg, makind deal that will keep him in the club until the year 2011.
On the 7th January, 2010, he was loaned to Tus Koblenz until the end of the season. He played 17games and scored 5 goals for the club, and was the top goal scorer of the club in the second half of the season.
With his return to his original club, Augsburg, he scored a goal in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. On the 31st August that year, he made a move to SC Paderborn on a loan deal that will keep him there until the end of the season. He was the top goal scorer of the club in the 2010/11 season, scoring 8 goals for the club after he has appeared in 23 games for the club, though he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in February 2011.. in the meantime, his original club was promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in the history of the club, because of that, his contract was extended and he went back to the top flight for the first time since the year 2009.
