main dance that is used to celebrate the opening of a new building, wedding,
facility or birthday is known as the tame. The tame includes the singing with
guitars, ukekeles and sometimes using a musical keyboard. It accompanied a
dance that has diverse actions to go with the meaning of the song. Men and
women both dance together in a tame. In most cases the women will dance while
sitting down and while the men dance while standing. Though, this has nothing
to do with position, as Niue women and men have equal position in the Niue
society.
