Niue culture and customs is also a rich music. Though, most of the very folk
Niuean songs are sung without the use of any musical instruments. The
instrument that is only used for very folk dances is wooden drum known in
Niuean as nafa or palau formed from a carved trunk of the selie tress. The use
of the instrument is primarily to provide a beat for the dances.
