zoblazo is initiated from 1990 by Freddy Meiway the former front man of the
bands Les Genitaux, Defense d’Ivoire and Zo Gang that is integrated the
traditional songs of the southern Ivory Coast with the electronic instruments
and the party lyrics. His success over the country and West Africa in the mid
to the late 1990 laid a chord of hit zoblazo records that has continued
throughout 2007, and even as other dance patterns such as prudencia and ciupe
decale that have edged out the zoblazo. Although even the Meidway, through the
series of guest musicians such as Manu Dibango, Jacob Desvarieux, Lokua Kanza,
Kojo Antwi and Koffi Olomide which has added Cugan, Mbalax abd Ghanaian Hi-life
musics.
