Rajasthan
has a very different cultural collection of artist castes which include Sapera,
Langas, Jogi, Manganiyar and Bhopa (literally the ones who ask/beg). Rajasthan
Diary quotes it as a soulful, full-throated music with musical diversity. The lingering
melody of Rajasthan evokes from a variety of delightfully original looking
instruments. The chord variety includes the Sarangi, Kanayacha, Morsing, Ektara
and Rawanhattha. Drumming instruments come in all shapes and sizes from the
huge Nagaras and Dhols to the tiny Damrus. The Daf and Chang are a big
favourite of Holi (the festival of colours) celebrators. Flutes and bagpipes
come in indigenous flavours like Shehnai, Poongi, Parpi, Been, Bankia and
Algoza.

The
essence of Rajasthani music is derived from the creative symphony of cord
instruments, drumming instruments and wind instrument followed by the melodious
renditions of the folk singers. It enjoys a respectable presence in Bollywood
music as well.
