current Eritrean famous music can be traced back to the late 1960s, when the
Mattber Theatre Asmara started to produce artists like Alamin Abdeletif, Yemane
Ghebremicheal Osman Abderrehim (which is commonly called as Yemane Baria),
Jabber, Tukabo, Yonus Ibrahim, Tsehaytu, Teberh Teasfahiwet and Tewolde Readda.

Since
then, some of the musicians like Kraar player Dawit Sium have helped to make
the core native Eritrean musical elements famous in music, some of the imported
patterns of music from the Europe, North America, and elsewhere in Africa, as
well as the Caribbean are also very fame in the urban places of Eritrea.
