Tewolde Redda. Tewolde Redda was one of the first musicians to play the
electric guitar in East Africa and a composer and writer of the popular
“Allegedly” Eritrea’s independence song “Shigey Habuni” with a love theme as coded message for the
political freedom; whether the attribution of a lot of the lyre in that time
was desire for the political freedom which was true or if it is just the wild fancy
of a repressed people who zealously wanting expressing their deep secret
political desire, were only eagerly extracting their deep secret of the political
meaning from what has to be run-o- the mill in the universal love songs and the
folk ballads).
