Iran
established its own pop music by the 1950s, when the Vigen brought the guitar
for the first time and later on using local instruments and forms and adding
the electric guitar and other foreign characteristics. He became the most
famous pop singer of the era for his special voice. Later on in 1970s, Googoosh
who was Vigen’s student became well-known. After the Iranian revolution in the
year 1979, pop music’s future seemed dark because of the new Islamic laws and limitation.
Several Iranians travelled to foreign countries especially Los Angeles in the
United States and Iranian-in-exile pop stars include Dariush Eghbali, Ebi
Siavash Shams, Siavash Shahram Shabpareh, Leila Forouhar, Faramarz Asef, Andy,
Koros, Martik, Farazaneh Ahmed Azad, Morteza, Hayedeh, Homeira, Mahasto, Hassan
Sattar, Shohreh Solati, Sharam Solati, Noshafarin, Aref, Bijan Mortazavi,
Hassan Shamaezadeh, Nazi Afshar, Mansour and Fattaneh.
