Iran established its own pop music by the 1950s, when the Vigen brought the guitar for the first time and later on using local instruments and forms and adding the electric guitar and other foreign characteristics. He became the most famous pop singer of the era for his special voice. Later on in 1970s, Googoosh who was Vigen’s student became well-known. After the Iranian revolution in the year 1979, pop music’s future seemed dark because of the new Islamic laws and limitation. Several Iranians travelled to foreign countries especially Los Angeles in the United States and Iranian-in-exile pop stars include Dariush Eghbali, Ebi Siavash Shams, Siavash Shahram Shabpareh, Leila Forouhar, Faramarz Asef, Andy, Koros, Martik, Farazaneh Ahmed Azad, Morteza, Hayedeh, Homeira, Mahasto, Hassan Sattar, Shohreh Solati, Sharam Solati, Noshafarin, Aref, Bijan Mortazavi, Hassan Shamaezadeh, Nazi Afshar, Mansour and Fattaneh.
