History of Music in Jamaica

The Jamaican music includes Jamaica folk music and several renowned genres like the ska, rocksteady, mento, dub music, reggae, ska, jazz, dancehall, reggae combination and linked styles. Jamaica’s music tradition is a combination of elements from the United States (rhythms, blues and soul), African and other neighbouring Caribbean islands such as the Trinidad and Tobago (soca and calypso).
