The
traditional music played a part in Irish famous music later in the century,
with Clannad, Van Morrison, Hothouse Flowers and Sinead O’Conor using the
traditional elements in famous songs. Enya achieved international success with
the new age/ Celtic combination. The Afro-Celt sound system achieved popularity
adding to the West African influences and drum and bass in the 1990s while
ensembles like Kila fuse traditional Irish with rock and world music
representing the Irish culture at world music festivals all over America and
Europe. The most clear combine ensemble in Ireland was the Horslips, who mixed
Irish themes and music with heavy rock.
