The lusheng is a Chinese musical
instrument that has multiple bamboo pipes. Each of the pipes is fixed with a
free reed that is fitted into the long blowing tube that is manufactured of
hardwood. It usually has five or six pipes that are of different pitches, and
is thus polyphonic musical instrument. The musical instrument comes in sizes
ranging from very small size to many meters in the length.

The lusheng is used primarily in the
ritual region of the southwestern china as well as in the nearby countries like
the Laos and Vietnam, where the instrument is being performed by such ethnic
groups as the Hmong and Dong. Performers of the instrument usually dance or
swing the musical instrument from side to side while they are playing it. Since
the later part of the 20th century, a revised version of the musical
instrument has been used in composed composition displays, usually as a solo
musical instrument with the Chinese traditional musical instrument
orchestra.
