Tilla Durieux was born as Ottilie Godeffroy on the 18th August
1880 in the city of Vienna; she died on the 21st February 191 in the
city of Berlin. She was a popular Austrian theatre and film actress of the
first 10 years of the 20th century.

Tilla Durieux was the daughter of the Austrian Chemist called Richard
Godeffroy, she trained as an actress of the country in the city of Vienna,
which was her native town and she made her first appearance in the ovie of the
country at the Moravian Theatre in Olmütz
in the year 1901/1902. She worked with Max Reinhardt at the
Deutsches Theater in the city of Berlin from the year 1903 and with the group
of expressionist artist of the country around Kurt Hiller and Jakob van Hoddis.
In the year 1911, Tilla Durieux entered
the Lessing Theater and from the year 1915, she perfomed at the Royal
Schauspielhaus Berlin.
Tilla Durieux got married to Eugen Spiro in the
year 1904 and after they have divorced, she
got married in the year 1910 to Paul Cassirer, who was an art dealer and
an editor and he committed suicide in a room that was next to thr court room
that announced his divorce. Tilla
Durieux got married again to general director Ludwig Katzenellenbogen.
She left Germany to
Switzerland with the husband to escape the Nazi regime in the country and she
kept on with her performances in the Theater in der Josefstadt I the city of
Vienna and in the city of Prague. She moved to Zagreb in Croatia in the year
1937 and it was there that she became a member of the International Red A.
Tilla Durieux went back to West Germany in the year 1952 ann performed
roles in the city of Berlin, Hamburg and in the city of Munster.
