Austrian actor, a film director and a professor at the Max
Reinhardt Seminar in the city of Vienna.
Was born as Klaus Georg Steng in
the city of Bad Aussee; he is the son of Maria Brandauer and Georg
Steng. He took up the maiden name of the mother as part of his professional
name.

Career
Klaus Maria Brandauer started his stage career in the year 1962. After he
had worked in the national TV and theatre, he appeared in the film of the
country for the first time in the year 1972. His international career was
brought to the light with the role he played in the István
Szabó's Mephisto of the year 1981.
He became the Head of
the Jury at the 37th Berlin International Film Festival in the year 1987.
Klaus Maria Brandauer directed his first movie in the year 1989 Georg Elser – Einer aus Deutschland and he played
the major role in the movie.
Klaus Maria Brandauer is fluent
in 5 different languages; German, Italian, Hungarian, English and
French and he has acted in each of them.
His first wife was
called Karin Katharina Müller, a screen writer and a TV direcot, she died from
cancer in the year 1992 at the age of 47 and they had a son together. Klaus Maria Brandauer married Natalie
Krenn in the year 2007.
