He was a representative if the cinema marginal of the country, he started making movies as an assistant director of Walter Lima Jr., in 1965. He for the first time directed a movie of the country called Face to Face and was chosen for the Festival of Brasilia. He was the founder of the Belair Movies together with a movie maker of the country called Rogerio Sganzerla. They selected a pattern of movie making and low cost production and as such managed to run 6 feature movies in just six months.
