known popularly as Volksschauspieler
by his countrymen because of his fame.

Biography
Fritz Muliar was born in the Neuban in the city of Vienna as the stepson
of a Jeweller. Fritz Muliar became a cabaret artist in the later part of the
1930s. He was a Boy Scout in his youth age. He was sent to the prison by the
Nazis in the year 1942 after the World War II and he spent 7 months in solitary
confinement for Betätigung zur
Wiederherstellung eines freien Österreich.
Fritz Muliar started his career on the stage after the war and he played
much of comic roles and traditional Austrian fare. He appeared in many films of
the country and in TV series like Kir Royal and Kommissar Rex. He is best remember for the role he played
in the 13-part TV series of the country called Die Abenteuer des braven
Soldaten Schwejk that was filmed in German and casted in the state TV of the
country, ORF in the year 1972.
