Roberto Alfredo Fontanarrosa popular with the name El NegroFontanarrosa was born on the
26th November 1944; he died on the 19th July 2007. He was
an argentine cartoonist and a writer. At the time of his long career, he became
one of the most popular historieta artists of the country and a good fiction
writer at that time. He was the man that fashioned the comics and the
characters of the InodoroPereyra,
a gaucho, and Boogie, el aceitoso,
a contract killer.

Biography
El NegroFontanarrosa was born in Rosario region of Santa Fe. He lived and worked
there till the day of his death. And he was widely known with his nickname El Negro.
El NegroFontanarrosa started his career with writing and drawing of comic strips
and later he branched out into the writing of narratives and short stories,
more on football stories. His most popular strips are InodoroPereyra and Boogie el Aceitoso.
He went on to writer tthree novels, which are Best Seller, El área 18 and La Gansada, and he wrote 7 short stories,
which are Los trenesmatan a los autos, El mundo ha vividoequivocado, No sési he sidoclaro, Nada
del otromundo, El mayor de
misdefectos, Uno nuncasabe
and La mesa de los galanes. All his
works are filled with the combination of braod humor and subtle.
His work has been found in various Latin American newspapers like Argentine
Clarín, ColombianEl tiempo, UruguayanLa República, and Mexican magazine Proceso among others.
In the year 2003, El NegroFontanarrosa
was diagnosed with the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and he stayed in the
wheelchair.
He continued with his work and he took part in the meeting of the Third
International Congress of the Spanish Language in the year 2004. He was given
the award of the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Mention of Honor
for the works he did and his contributions to the culture of the country on the
26th April 2006.
He announced his stop
on his drawing works on the 18th January 2007. On the 19th
July 2007, El
NegroFontanarrosa suffered a
respiratory failure and admitted to a hospital. An hour later he died in the hospital.
He was buried the next day.
