Norman Briski

Norman Briski was born on the 2^nd January 1938. He is a popular argentine theatre actor, director, playwright, cinema and a TV actor.

Norman Briski was born in Santa Fe region of the country in the year 1938. His Jewish Argentine family moved to Cordoba and that was where he built up his interest in acting. In Cordoba, Norman Briski was handed his first role in the stage in the movie called La Farsa del señor Corregidor. He kept on with the career in the theatre and eventually started playing the major roles in movies like Rosencranz and Guildenstern are dead and The Mother. He played his first role I the cinema of the country in Cómoseducir a unamujer in the year 1967.

Norman Briski established an independent theatre company, while he was still active in the local theatre of the country in the early part of 1970s. He devoted the repertoire of the theatre company to the production of classics that were banned in the country at that period. He got death threats from the Argentine Anti-communist Alliance in the mid-1970s; he left the country for Spain in the year 1975. It was in Spain that he was cast by a movie director called Carlos Saura for the major role in the popular drama of the year 1976 called Elisa, vidamía and also in the major work of magic realism called Mamácumplecienaños in the year 1979. He appeared in many other Spanish movies and was seen in the Swedish movie called Walk on Water If You Can in the year 1979.

Norman Briski went back to the stage of the country and wrote many works like Las primas, Fin de siglo, and Cuadrilátero.

Norman Briski started appearing in the TV of the country in the year 1989.

Norman Briski ran an unsuccessful congress in the year 1991 on the Popular Unity Front ticket.

He kept on working in the theatre of the country and he established the Caliban Theatre in the year 1987.
