Luis (Leopoldo) Franco was born on the 15th November 1898; he
died on the 1st June 1988. He was an autodidact, a self-made
intellectual, essayist and a poet. Leopoldo
was the son of Luis Antonio and Balbina Acosta and he spent most of his life in
his native region far from the limelight of the city of Buenos Aires and the
Academic world of the city that he hated in favor of the Bucolic and rural life
in his father’s castle farm that is located in Balen.

At the age of 17, Leopoldo was given the award of a literary prize for
his work called Odaprimaveral.
It was hard for Leopoldo to
acoexist with the cultural life and the Bourgeois pattern of life of other
intellectuals in the city if Buenos Aires.
And soon after he had completed his high school, he went back to his
hometown, Belen. In his hometown, Leopoldo lived most of his adult life doing
what he loved most; working the land, reading and writing.
He soon emerged as a political writer after the military coup of General
José EvaristoUriburu in the year 1930. Leopoldo
was a Marxist of Trotskyite tendencies and he was also among the founders of
the party called Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) in 1982. In the year 1952, he
contributed to the magazine called Estrategia.
