Karim Matmour was born on the 25th June 1985. He is an
Algerian international football player who is currently playing the role of a
midfielder for the club, 1. FC Kaiserslatern.

He started playing for the Algerian national team since the year 2007 and
he was among the members of the national team that played in the 2010 FIFA
World Cup and in the 2010 African Cup of Nations. As of July 2013, he played
the total of 30 games for the Algerian national team and with two goals.
Club Career
Karim Matmour started his football career with the club in his hometown,
RC Strasbourg. He came through the academy of the club and was handed a
professional deal by the club. After that he briefly played for the amateur
club, Vauban Strasbourg and then he left to Germany to play for the reserve
team of SC Freiburg. He gained promotion to the senior side of the club where
he played the total of 80 matches for the club in three seasons.
On the 4th June 2008, Karim Matmour made a move to Borussia
Mönchengladbach on a four-year deal on a transfer fee of €2 million.
After the world cup
performance, many clubs had interest in the player.
On the 1st
July 2011, Karim Matmour signed a year
deal with Eintracht with an option of extending the number of years with the
club.
International Career
He got his first call up to the Algerian national team to play in the
match against Libya on the 6th February 2007. In December 2009, he
was chosen by Saadane to play with the national team in the 2010 African Cup of
Nations that was held in Angola.
He announced that he will be taking an international break to focus on
his club career on the 3rd May 2012.
