October 1980. She is a Kosovo-Albanian actress. She is noticed for her striking
manifestation and her ability to breathe reliable life into the roles that she
always play in the movie. She is the first actress in the history of movie in
the country to walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, the Berlin Film
Festival and the Sundance Film festival and be selected for the European Film
Award.

Early Life
Arta Dobroshi was born in Pristina, SFR Yugoslavia
to Kosovo Albanian parents. She has been in the study of the performing arts
since her primary education and she went to Academy of Arts acting drama course
in Pristina and that lasted for years. She took part in many short films and
theatre plays while she was still a student. When she was 15, she went on a
student exchange program to America where she acted a drama play. She has a
strong work tenet, known to prepare for just 8 hours or a day.
Career
After the War time, she took roles in the local
theatre of the country and in the movies of Albania and also a leading role in
the prize-winning German-Albanian production magic eye in the year 2005, a film
about a situation in the country, Albania in the year 1997, when it was rocked
by unrest.
While she was in Sarajevo acting a play, Dobroshi
met with the Dardenne brothers and they offered her an open casting in Kosovo
for Lorna’s Silence. Two weeks after the casting of the movie, she was called
up by the Dardenne brothers, who were asking her to go to Belgium to do play in
French together with Jeremie Renier and Fabrizio Rongione. After knowing
phoneticall scenes of the movie and after the two days casting of the movie,
she was given the role to play in the movie. She mastered the French language
within eight weeks prior to the shooting of the film.
Debroshi became popular internationally for her
depiction of Lorna in Luc and Jean-Piere Dardenne’s movie called Lorna Silence
that she played the title character to great approval and got the attention of
the international media. The film was awarded in Cannes 2008. In that same
year, she was nominated for her function in the Best Actress part, at the
European film Awards and at the Toronto Film Critics Association Awards in the
year 2009. This was the 4th movie that she took part in, and that
was a jump in her profession. International popularity and acclamation coming
with it, and that was what attracted some global attention to her. Dobroshi
participated in the movie called BABY by BAFTA. The movie won the Best Short
Movie Award when it was first see in the Edinburgh International Film festival
in the year 2010, and the film won the Best International Short Film at the
Cork Film festival. It was awarded the highly coveted Best Short Film Award
that was held at the British Independent Film Awards. The film also won the
Best International Short film at the Flickerfest. Dobroshi won the best Actress
for the function she played in the movie at the 24fps international short film
festival.
Dobroshi has finished the filming of theJulie
Gavras’ movie called Late Bloomers together with William Hurt and Isabella
Rossellini. She has featured in couple of other movies and she is working on
Nena with her director from the movie called Baby, Daniel Mulloy. The movie is
set in the Capital Pristina. The movie will see the actress accept her for the
first time in her own country for many years. The film that will be shot in the
official language of Albania will be financed by UNDP and it is the first
project that will see the actress as the producer.
