In
the year 1994, South African media was opened and modern musical patterns
emerged. Prophets of Da City became popular as a premier hip hop crew, however
a south Africanized pattern of hip pop was known as kwaito later substituted actual hip hop groups. In kwaito synthesizers and other electronic
instruments are popular, and also the slow jams changed from Chicago house
artists such as Tony Humphries, Robert Owen and The Fingers were also renowned.
Bongo Maffin, Boom Shaka and Trompies were among the artists of the kwaito. The band Tree63 also appeared,
initial popular for their hit single known as A Million Lights and then further
promoted by their style of Matt Redman’s Blesses Be Your Name.
