isolated from international renowned music. From the 60s, an increase in
tourism caused an influx of settlers to fill the services positions of the
tourism industry formed. These settlers introduced with them many patterns of
famous music, which were promoted by the increase of mass media in the country,
including the radio and televisions.

the 80s, Virgin Islands were home for many foreign pattern, particularly the
salsa, soca, musical theatre, jazz, merengue, western classical music, reggae,
along with international pop artists were popular mainstream attraction while
the islands’ youth created ensembles and dance groups that played patterns
famous throughout the Caribbean, primarily the Latin, Trinidadian and Jamaican influenced,
such as reggae, salsa, soca and steelpan. The large Puerto Rican populace in
the Virgin Islands kept renowned music from the Puerto Rico and the Dominican
Republic as the major part of the country’s industry.
