Seychelles is a sovereign island group in the Indian Ocean, previously which is
a colony of both Britain and France which has a unique type of music.
Traditional music joins multiple influences in a syncretic design which include
polka, English contredanse and
mazurka, French traditional and pop, sega
from Mauritius and Reunion, taarab,
zouk, soukous moutya and other pan-African genres of Polynesian, Arcadian
and Indian music. A difficult type of drumming music is known as Kanmtole, which is renowned along with
mixtures of Sega and Reggae known as Seggae
and mixtures of Moutya and Reggae is
known as Mouggae, as is Montea, a combination of indigenous
traditional rhythms with Kenyan benga

Volcy is another popular Seychellois artist who has introduced the current
touch of the traditional music. He has several albums which include Sove Lavi.
