The hip hop music in the country is modeled after the American hip hop,. There is really not much similarity stylistically between the Uganda hip hop and the American version. Because of the digital insurgency, there is an access to current production of technologies in Uganda hence the beats that modern indigenous producers are making are amazingly of high quality and not so far behind the American ones. The basis similarity between the two genres is the Uganda, as in most African countries, most musicians will rap in their indigenous dialect. In Uganda’s case, the language is Luganda. This has formed the substitute Lugaflow to further describe Ugandan rap music; hip hop is one of the latest genres to be extensively practiced in the country. The two music orchestras, Klear Kut and Bataka Squad were the initial musical performances to do hip hop back in the late 90s. The normal acceptance for the music genre was almost non-existence by then. Though, a series of the members of the said orchestras continued with the genre, particularly Navio and Babaluku. Others include the Abramz and Sylveser also kept making rap music, concentrating on the socially aware themes and topics. During in the middle of the previous year, more performances began consolidating the fight, with Rocky Giant being one of the initial rappers to be incorporated in the mainstream. But it was not until the breaking of the GNL through the circa 2008 that the genre really attained steam. GNL mad the hip hop more acceptable and available to many lugaflow rappers started to appear. Since then there has been an outbreak of activity on the scene with a sizable number of rappers enjoying the comparative achievement in the music industry and on the radio circuit.
