Extempo or extempo calypso or calypso war, is a poetically improvised (free patterned) type of calypso. It is an annual contest that takes place at the Trinidad and Tobago Festival for the trophy of Extempo Ruler and the art type was initial documented in 1940s in Trinidad but it began long before this period, this was in the farm where the slaves utilized to imitating the slave-motorists by keron luke.
