Venezuela
also has the houses for a national network of public conservatories and music
institutions; there are also private music institution and schools. The higher
learning which specialized in music or have a music department include the
Universidad de las Artes, whose music department is the pervious Instituto
Universitario de Estudios Musicales; Universidad central de Venezuela, which
gives diplomas in music act and postgraduate degree in musicology which also
include doctorates; Universidad Simon Bolivar, whose music department awards
Master of Music degree in several fields which include the composition,
conducting and music education; and Univesidad de los Andes. The popular
composers and artists who have taught, founded or studied in these institutions
include the following Maria Gunand (who was one of the initiator of the Master
of Music program of Univesidad Simon Bolivar), Alfredo Rugeles, carlos Duarte,
Aqueiles Baez, Josefina Benedetti, Pablo Gil, Diana Arismendi, Adina Izarra,
and Ricardo Teruel.
Juana
Maria de la Conception, popularly known as Conny Mendez, who was born on 11
April 1898 in Caracas, was a composer, singer, writer, actress and caricaturist
who produced more than 40 works, which include Yo soy venezolana, Venezuela
Habla Cantando, Chucho y Ceferina, La Negrita Marisol and many others.
Ruben
Cedeno, who is a composer of the traditional and infantile music of Venezuela,
he emerges in the Venezuelan music encyclopedia. Singer, investigator,
composer, writer and painter, his very composition include Aguinaldo Que
Navidad part of the Venezuelan Christmas collection and translated by the mezzo
soprano Morella Munoz, Cantata infantile Simon Bolivar, Misa de Mi Tierra and
many others. This was the National Prize of famous music of the INAVI with his
valse Nora.
Antonio
Lauro composed a huge body of the classical guitar compositions, changing the
traditional Venezuelan traditional chants for the instrument.
Gustavo
Matamoros is also a popular Venezuelan composer dedicated to the experimentation
with beat and its relationship with the human mind and culture. He has worked primarily
on the current methods such as the electro acoustic, combined media, act,
installations, radiophony and multimedia displays. He lives in the United
States.
Lil
Barie is also a song writer composer independent and unground singer who made
popularity around the region of Venezuela and Colombia and he blends hip hop
and Rap.
