The
Appalachian Mountains is located along the East Coast of the United Sates. The
area has long been traditionally poor compared to much of the rest of the
country; many of the rural Appalachian people immigrated to cities for in
search of work, were there labeled hillbillies, and their music became recognized
as hillbilly music. At the 19th and the early 20th
centuries, Scottish and Irish settlers came in a huge numbers. They mixed there
with the poor whites of other cultural backgrounds, as well as many blacks. The
result was a different array of the traditional patterns that have been
collectively known as the Appalachian traditional music. These patterns include
the honky tonk, blue grass, and jug ensembles and they were the origin of the
current country music.

Appalachian
traditional music started its development towards the pop-country in the year
1927, when Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter family started their recording in an
important part with Ralph Peer. Rodgers snag frequently morbid lyrical themes
that drew on the blues to make the tales of the poor and unlucky, while the
Carter chosen more upbeat ballads with clear choral, supplementary
instrumentation and wholesome words. Their achievement smooth the way for the
establishment of the famous country, and left its mark on the establishing
genre of rock and roll.
