Ahmad Wali

Ahmad Wali is a famous Ghazal musician from Afghanistan. Wali started his career work in the 1970s, transforming to a prominent musician in his native country before being made to abscond by political turmoil in the country. He continued with his work after moving over to Germany, performing all through the United States and Europe.

BACKROUND

The son of a commander of police, Ahmed Wali was born in Kabul. Wali started playing music as a Tabla performer at his 12^th year, progressively growing into singing. While he was a student, at Habibia High school, he chronicled a demo tape. This came to the knowledge and attracted the attention of the director of the Radio Kabul director Ustad Zaland that documented the song, ‘Chashman -e –Abee’ for Ahmed. This brought Ahmed to the eye of the public. He played live in Afghanistan until he finished his schooling, when he joined an international performance in Iran.

CAREER

At the early stage of his profession, Ahmed had not dedicated his life as a professional music player, and he registered in the police academy of Kabul. He kept performing, meanwhile and soon, he went into music fully, being taken as a student by the classical music player known as Sarahang Ustad. He developed in the music of Afghanistan with the constant show in the Cinema and the radio and also at some live performances.

After the revolution of the Saur of the 1978, life became hard in the country and in the year 1980, immediately after the invasion of the country by the Soviet Union, Ahmed left his country with the use of a forged passport and the passport got him to India, where he got a Visa to Germany by faking that he was sick.

In Germany, Ahmed continued with his profession, playing in Germany and all through the European countries and the United States. He also has a child called by name Massieh Wali.
