The music kizomba that is from Angola and cabo-love that is from Cape Verde are also derived from French Antilles compass music style, which sounds basically the same, though there are clear differences once you become more accustomed with these genres. The main promoter of this sub-genre is Ophelia Maroe. Other zouk love musicians came from French West Indies, the Netherlands and African.

Some of the renowned musicians include French West India artists Edith Lefel and Nichols or Netherland based Suzanna Lurano and Gil Semedo and also African artist Kaysha.
