Panama is one of the Central American countries and it is populated mostly by the mestizos (persons of mixed European, African and local ancestry). The Panama music was influenced first by the local populace of Kunas, Noble Bugle, Teribes and others, and also the black populace who were brought over, first as slave from Africa and also Colombia between the 16th century and the 19th century then freely (especially from Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados, Martinique, Saint Luica and Guadeloupe) to work on the Panamanian railroad and canal project between the 1840s and 1914. With this heritage, Panama has a very rich and different music record, and important assistances to Cumbia, Punta, Samola, Pasillo, Mejorana, Tamborito, Salsa, Jazz, Rock, Calypso, Reggae and other musical genres.
