Rica has many types of music, though its music has received little
international award, the Costa Rican famous music genres include an indigenous
calypsos scene, which is different from
the more widely known Trinidadian calypso sounds, as well as the thriving disco
audience that support the nightclubs in the cities such as San Jose. The
American and the British rock and roll and pop are well-known and common among
the youth (especially the urban youth), while the dance-oriented genres such as
soca, salsa, merengue, cumbia and the Tex-Mex have a request among the somewhat
older audience.

Mexican music is a well-known among older the people and some people in the
other part. During the middle years of the 20th century, then Costa
Rica was open to much Mexican cultural inspiration. Another new genre discovered
in Costa Rica is the Celtic with the group known as Peregrino Gris.
