This
is a traditional Bolivian music type that is from Tarija and is played with the
erke (which is very long trumpet made from many lengths of sugar cane combined
together, with a bull’s horn at the end) and a caja which is a small hand drum.
Sometimes the bass drums abnd guitars are used, but they are not traditionally
part of the music. The name which refers to the wheel or circle came from the
manner in which it is danced. The dancers form a circle and hold hands; they
then spin in one way and upon completing then circle, spin back in other way.
