The kpanlogo is a kind of drum that
is linked with the kpanlogo music. The musical instrument originates from the
Ga people of the Greater Accra region of Ghana, West Africa.

The drums are part of the
membranophone family of musical instruments. A shell covered by a drumhead
produced of one of many products, often rawhide. The musical instrument has a
tapered body that is carved from a single piece of wood that is analogous to the
conga in shape. The head of the drum is typically made out of the goat skin or
the skin of an antelope, or even cow that is spread over one extreme of the
musical instrument and is tightened via the use of six wooden pegs. The skin of
the instrument can be tightened by tapping the pegs into the kpanlogo drum. The
drum may be played with the use of sticks, bare hand or the combination of
both.
The musical instrument are
traditionally performed by a group of drummers, usually in set of six kpanlogo
drum of different sizes, the djembe drum, dunun and the cowbell often accompany
the kpanlogo drum.
