A khloy is an ancient
traditional bamboo flute that comes from Cambodia, especially the Khmer people
of the country. The khloy together with many other similar bamboo flutes can be
seen throughout the Asian continent because the bamboo is seen everywhere in
the region. The khloy is a duct flute that is about 15 inches long and the
diameter is 1 inch, having about 8 or 9 fingering holes and a duct end that the
player of the instrument blows into to give out a sound.

The khloy of Cambodia is
sometimes mistaken for the ‘klui flute’ that is found in Thailand. Different
from the klui flute, the khloy flute can generally be played solo in an
informal setting and the instrument is usually played with the use of
pentatonic scale.
