The laggutu is a folk
percussion instrument that is used in the southern region of Azerbaijan which
are; Astara, Lankaran, Masalli and Jalilabad. Just like any other percussion
instrument, the laggutu is widely used in the modern musical sections and
orchestras of the national instruments. The laggutu is raised to the stage and
the performer plays the musical instrument with two wooden sticks. The laggutu
is 250*125*50mm in size and it is produced from walnut, apricot, mulberry or
beech wood.
