Osman Lins was born on the 5th July 1924 in Vitória
de Santo Antão, Pernambuco, Brazil; he died on the 8th July 1978 in
São Paulo, Brazil. He is a Brazilian novelist and a short story writer. Osman Lins is seen as one of the leading
innovators of the literature of the country in the middle part of the 20th
century. Osman Lins graduated from the University of Recife in the year 1946
with a degree in economics and finance and he occupied the position of a clerk
in a bank from the year 1943 to the year 1970. From the year 1970 to the year
1977, Osman Lins taught literature.

Osman Lins’s first novel called 0 Visitante was published in the year 1955 and his later publisvcations
brought him international fame in the country and bought reputation for him as
a writer of the country. Some of his works are; Nove, Novena, which was
published in the year 1966, a collection of short stories, Avalovara a novel
published in the year 1973 and A Rainha dos Cárceres da Grécia, a novel and an
essay published in the year 1976.
Osman Lins was the winner of three main literary awards of the country
and one of them is the Coelho Neto Prize of the Brazilian
Academy of Letters
