Ernst Deutsch, aka Ernest Dorian was born on the 16th
September 1890 in Prague; he died on the 22nd March 1969 in Berlin.
He was an Austrian actor.
He played the role of the protagonist in the world premiere of Walter
Hasenclever's Expressionist play The
Son in Dresden to great acclaim in the year 1916. He is mostly known by
the English speaking audiences for the role he played in the in the 1949 film
noir The Third Man as Baron
Kurtz.

Career
Ernst Deutsch grew up in the town of Prague, went to the high school. He
was a good player of the tennis and came up to the rank 7 of the
Austro-Hungarian tennis list. After his high school, he served in the k.u.k.
Army.
In the year 1914, Ernst Deutsch appeared at the Berthold Viertel of the
city of Vienna Volksbühne for the first time. He was
hired by Edgar Licho after a short spell in Prague for the Albert Theatre in
Dresden and it was there that he moved to in the year 1916. In the Albert
Theatre in Dresden, Ernst Deutsch
played a role in the Schiller's The
Robbers. He was acclaimed for the title role he played in the Franz Moor
and in Frank Wedekind's Spring
Awakening the role of Moritz Stiefel. He became popular for the role in
Walter Hasenclever's drama The Son.
The role established him as a famous expressionist actor and the drama
premiered on the 8th October 1916. He played in the presence of the
invited guests.
Ernst Deutsch moved to
the German theatre Berlin and played there until the year 1933 at many stages
of the city, and he gave guest performances in the city of Hamburg, Munich and
the city of Vienna, he also took part in the tour of the South America. He
starred in the total of 42 silent movies since the year 1916. In April of the
year 1933, Ernst Deutsch left
Germany due to the Nazi state doctrine was Anti-Semitism. He played back in the
city of Vienna and Prague after he had left Germany, he gave guest performances
in the city of Zurich, Brussels and in the year 1936, he played in London. The
Anti-Semitism of Germany was spread all through the Europe and he moved to New
York city in the year 1938, he played for a short time on the Broadway in the
year 1939 and moved to the Hollywood, and it was there tht he got the American
citizenship. He played under the name, Ernest Dorian in some Hollywood films
from the year 1942.
After a spell in the city of Buenos Aires, Ernest went back to Paris and from there, he moved to the city of vienna.
In the city of vienna, he became a member of the Burgtheatre.he played at the
national theatre in the year 1948 in The Helpers of God that was directed by Henri Dunant, the founder of
the Red Cross Society.
Ernest moved back to Berlin in the year 1951 and played there in Schiller
and Schlossparktheater.
