Roberto Sánchez-Ocampo was born on the 19th August 1945; he died on the 4th January 2010. He is better known with his stage name, Sandro de América. He is an argentine musician and an actor and he is seen to be one of the first rock artists in the country to sing in Spanish in the Latin America. Sandro de América edited the total of 52 official records and sokld over 8 million copies around the world, though some sources revealed that he sold more than 22 million copies.

Some of his most successful music are Dame fuego, Rosa, Rosa, Quierollenarme de ti, Penumbras, Porqueyoteamo, Así, Mi amigo el Puma, Tengo, Trigal, Unamuchacha y unaguitarra. Only the single music called Rosa sold 2 million copies and that was his most recognizable and the most famous among all.
Sandro de América was the first Latin American to sing at the Madison Square Garden in the year 1970, and that was the first time in the history of broadcasting that a concert was transmitted live.  In the year 2005, Sandro de América was given the award of the Latin Grammy award to honor his career as a musician.
Biography
Sandro de América was born in Buenos Aires to Irma Nydia ocampo and Vicente Sanchez in the year 1945. He was raised in the southern suburb of ValentinAlsina and he learned how to play the guitar as a kid as he called his music Romani.
At first, during his school days, he followed the footsteps of the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley, but after that he created a personal pattern that marked his profession and he became a pioneer in the Spanish-language rock music. On the 10th November 1971, Sandro de América saw Presley live, at the Boston Garden  at the time of the travel he did in the city. In the year 1961, Sandro de América began the music group called Sandro and los de Fuego that got its popularity on the TV show called SábadosCirculares and it becamde very popular in the 1960s. with the music like "Ave de Paso", "AtmósferaPesada", "QuieroLlenarme de Ti", "Tengo", "¿A esto le llamas amor?", "Eres el demoniodisfrazado" "Porqueyoteamo", "Penumbras", "Unamuchacha y unaguitarra", "Trigal" or "Rosa Rosa", success of profession grew constantly.
Sandro de América had a leading role in many movies including Quierollenarme de ti and Subíquetellevo. He directed a movie called Tú me enloqueces in the year 1976.
The music of Sandro de América have been recorded by many international artist like Shirley Bassey, Liza Minnelli, Burt Bacharach, Dalida, Shirley MacLaine, Toto Cutugno, Nancy Wilson, Mary Hopkin, LoredanaBertè, Umberto Tozzi, Gilbert Bécaud, Milva, Julio Iglesias, José Luis Rodríguez and Engelbert Humperdinck.
Health and Death
On the 20th November 2009, Sandro de América got a heart-lung transplant in Mendoza, Argentina and the operation was successful. Five days after the operation, in the daily press conference that was held  by his doctors, it was announced that though he is still in an intensive care by the hospital, was breathing with no respirator and that he had begun a slow recovery. Meanwhile 45 days later, he died of septic shock, mesenteric ischemia and disseminated intravascular coagulation in the Hospital Italiano of Mendoza.
