ElvinoVardaro

ElvinoVardaro was born on the 18^th June 1905 in Buenos Aires; he died on the 5^th August 1971 in Cordoba, Argentina. He was a tango music composer and a violinist.

ElvinoVardaro was raised in the Abasto neighborhood of Buenos Aires and when he was 4 he started studying the musical instrument called violin. When he turned 14, he made his debut in the concert with the musical instrument, violin of a classical music and while he was playing the musical instrument to accompany the silent movoe he met with the pianist called Rodolfo Biagi and Luis Visca who performed with him. In the year 1922, ElvinoVardaro joined the orquestra that was directed by Juan Maglio and later he went on to play with the musical group of the bandoneonist called Paquito Bernardo. A year later, he joined Roberto Firpo’s orchestra and played together with the violinists like Octavio Scaglione and Cayetano Puglisi and he became closer friends with them.

In the year 1926, the bandoneonist Pedro Maffia left the orchestra of Julio De Caro and established his own ensemble with Osvaldo Pugliese on the piano, Pedro Maffia and Alfredo De Franco on bandoneons, ElvinoVardaro and Emilio Puglisi on the violins and Francisco De Lorenzo on the double bass. That same year, ElvinoVardaro composed his first tango called Gritodel Alma. In the year 1929, he joined with Osvaldo Pugliese in the forming of the Vardaro-Pugliese Sextet, which played along until the year 1931. Two year after that he arranged a sextet with AnibalTroilo and Jorge Argentina Fernandez on the musical instrument called bandoneon, Hugo Baralis and Vardaro on violins, Pedro Carracciolo on double bass and Jose Pascualon the piano.

In the year 1935, ElvinoVardaro introduced a thirdbandoneonist known with the name Eduardo Marino and in the year 1937, he introduced the following singers to the group; Francisco Alfredo Marino, Carlos Lafuente, Guillermo Arbos and Nelly de la Vega. In the year 1938, ElvinoVardaro played with LucioDemare in an ensemble that consisted of the singer Juan Carlos Miranda and two pianos.

After his retirement to live in Cordoba, he showed up again in the year 1941to conduct that jazz orchestra called Brighton Jazz that played on the Radio El Mundo and in clubs and cabarets and also recorded two other works, one of them called Violinomania was written by Argentino Galvan and was dedicated to ElvinoVardaro in tribute to his talent.

ElvinoVardaro played for many year with the orchestra of Joaquin Do Reyes and was heard on the radio El Mundo and in the 1940s and in the 1950s, he showed up with the orchestras of Adolfo Perez, Osvaldo Fresedo and Fulvio Salamanca. In the year 1955, ElvinoVardaro joined Astor Piazzolla’sOrquestra de Cuerdos and in the year 1961, he moved to Piazzolla’s first quintet. At that same period, he was also performing with the orchestra of Carlos Di Sarli.

In the last part of his life, ElvinoVardaro moved to Arguello, beside the city of Cordoba, and it was there that he performed in the provincial symphony orchestra until he died on the 5^th August 1971.
