Carlos Rivero

Carlos Rivero is an argentine author, composer, a musician and a music teacher. He was born in San Juan. He developed a good career as a folk percussion instrument player.

Carlos Rivero is specialized in the folk music of the country. He travelled, played and recorded with several artist and ensembles like; ManoloJuárez, Suna Rocha, Jaime Torres, Leda Valladares, Jairo, FacundoSaravia, Los Andariegos, and Los Chalchareros, and many others. He has composed chamber works for the percussion instruments, one of them being HunucHuar the Premiere that took place at the Auditorium LRA Radio Nacional of the country, Argentina.

In the year 1995, he got the Trimarg Award that was given to him by the Music Committee of UNESCO in the country in the genre called Folk Projection. In the year 2002, Carlos Rivero was granted the National Fellowship in the Folk Expression by the National Arts Funds. In the year 2004, he published his book called BomboLegüero and Argentine Folk Percussion.

Carlos Rivero played at the Mar del Plata San Martin Theatre as a part of the Mar del Jazz festival with the player of the guitar from Greece, Andreas Georgiu and the Brazilian percussion player called ElierzerFreitas Santos. He also recorded with the player of bass called Cesar Franov and the guitar player known as QuiqueSinnessi and the three of them have travelled round the globe.

Since the year 1987, Carlos Rivero serves as a full-time professor of the folklore at the school of Popular Music of Avellaneda. He also delivers clinics and lectures on the Musical language appreciation and the folk percussion instrument in the entire country.
